Others pointed out that Kelis could have gotten a shout out too if she didn't complain about Beyonce sampling her song 'Milkshake' without consulting her. While Kelis performed the song she did not actually own it as Pharrell and had the writing credits. Nonetheless, Beyonce quietly removed the sample from the song and removed her from the credits as a performer to which Kelis replied 'I always win'.

Many of the artists reacted to the news of being acknowledged by Beyonce:

Santigold thanked Beyonce shouting her out and "Letting these people know about all these Black women, powerful powerful spirits, many of whom never received the acknowledgement they deserved!"

Lizzo was ecstatic, replying "BITCH BEYONCÉ SAID MY NAME BYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"

and "I ALWAYS BELIEVED IN ME NOW BEYONCÉ BELIEVE IN ME TOO"

Jill Scott sent love and praise Beyonce's way for her shout-out as well:
