Mayor John Tory has been embroiled in a scandalous affair with a staffer which has called for the official to step down on February 10, 2023.
Tory was the 65th Mayor of the city of Toronto, Canada for approximately 8 years, first elected in 2014 and re-elected in 2018 and 2022.
While he announced his resignation in a press conference on February 10, 2023, it was not formally tendered. Now it seems he's backtracked on this decision, continuing to preside over and work with city officials. He recently sat in on the city's budget meeting for 2023.
While a recent survey showed that citizens were split on whether Tory should follow through with his promise, many have not backed down on their demands for the 68 year old public official to step down.
