Legendary punk designer Vivienne Westwood passed away on December 29, 2022 at the age of 81. The news was shared on her Instagram account that the Dame died "peacefully and surrounded by her family, in Clapham, South London."
Born in England, Westwood started her career as a self-taught designer in the 1960s partnering with Malcolm McLaren to design punk rock clothes in the 1970s. After owning several boutiques Westwood took a chance and founded her own fashion house, Vivienne Westwood in 1999. Before long she had expanded her boutiques all over the world including Tokyo, New York, London, and Milan. Her work has undeniably inspired so many in the fashion world and condolences and tributes have been flooding in through social media including Riccardo Tisci, Halsey, and Naomi Campbell.
The Vivienne Westwood brand changed the landscape of fashion and has styled many celebrities such as Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Zendaya and Doja Cat.
