The U.S. Supreme Court decision that has sent shockwaves throughout the United States, and arguably the world, has cause an increase in people seeking to get sterilized. Sterilization, involving a vasectomy for men and tubal litigation for women, is a more permanent solution to preventing pregnancy. However doctors are apprehensive to perform the procedure in this current climate, particularly on young adults, as studies have shown that there has been regret later on by women (between 1% - 26%; Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).
The Roe v. Wade reversal removed the public's constitutional right to abortion across the country.
Several state laws have been passed either in support of or against the decision. States like South Carolina, Alabama, and Georgia have implemented further restrictions by decreasing the allowable time limit to receive an abortion. Other states like California have moved to protect abortion laws as much as possible, promised not to turn people away.
On July 21, 2022 the U.S. House of Representatives voted to pass the Right to Contraception Act providing the federal right to access to contraception (only eight Republications voted in favour of the law).
