Kanye West is no longer a billionaire according to Forbes as the ramifications of his actions continue to pile up. The loss follows the breakdown of his partnership with Adidas that had originally contributed substantially to his net value. He was also dropped by fashion powerhouse Balenciaga amid continued backlash from celebrities and the public.
Earlier this month, Kanye posted comments on Twitter aimed at the Jewish community that were seen as both inaccurate and dangerous.
In the face of continued outrage the artist proceeded to double down on his beliefs, holding interviews on such podcasts as Drink Champs where he asserted that “Jewish people have owned the Black voice.” The episode was later removed from Youtube with host Nore apologizing for giving Kanye a platform to speak given the severity of his actions, expressing that he did 'regret it.'
His Instagram and Twitter accounts were also restricted in response to his comments while his school, Donda Academy was closed down for the remainder of the school year.
