Two years after announcing the new business, Amazon Pharmacy is now in service.
With a monthly subscription fee of $5USD (or included with Prime membership), users can now purchase their medication on Amazon at more affordable prices than traditional pharmacies.
Features include delivery in as little as two days, and automatic reminders for refills. All prescriptions are reviewed by pharmacists and the service works with most insurance plans.
This will bring stiff competition to pharmaceutical companies as the potential to implement significant makeups on medication will be stifled.
Overpriced medication has been an ongoing issue in the United States. The US Government recently lowered the price of insulin under its Medicaid plan at a capped price of $35USD.
