Lebron James has reached another milestone in his illustrious career after becoming the all-time leading scorer in the NBA.
During a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder he needed to score 36 points to break Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's 40 year record of 38,387 points. This seemed easy for the Lakers star as he has been consistently playing 30 point games this season.
Family, friends, and celebrities were in attendance to witness the historic game.
With a 2-point fadaway shot he secured the number one spot and further cemented his legacy as an NBA icon. While the Lakers lost the game, Lebron's final stats were 38 points, 3 assists and 7 rebounds.
Colleagues and fans have been pouring out their congratulations on social media including Drake, Dwyane Wade and Nike.
.
Google even added a surprise when you searched his name.
Lebron's longevity and impact on basketball and the world cannot be denied. During his 20 year career he's won 4 NBA championships, 4 NBA MVP awards, 4 NBA MVP Finals awards, 2 Olympic medals, and 3 All-Star MVP awards. He's also appeared in 10 NBA Finals and played in 18 All-star games. Not bad for a kid from Akron, Ohio!
And he doesn't appear to be slowing down. At 38 years of age he still plays with the same tenacity and skill he has been revered for. He recently signed an extension contract with the Los Angeles Lakers with a player option for the 2024-2025 season.
His son's, Bronny James and Bryce James, are also following in their father's footsteps, becoming a force to be reckoned with in their own right. Lebron has often voiced his desire to play with his son Bronny before finally retiring from the game.
