What could be the greatest faux pas of the new year is Rolling Stones leaving out one of the greatest singers from its list of greatest singers!
Earlier this week, the publication released its compilation of the 200 Best Singers Of All Time from a variety of genres including R&B, rock and salsa. The top 10 best singers were ranked as follows:
Aretha Franklin
Whitney Houston
Sam Cooke
Billie Holiday
Mariah Carey
Ray Charles
Stevie Wonder
Beyoncé
Otis Redding
Al Green
While artists like Beyonce, Elton John, Ariana Grande, and Whitney Houston made the cut, Celine Dion was surprisingly nowhere to be found. The puzzling move had social media in an uproar calling for an examination of heads (or the rolling of them).
The five-time Grammy winner has countless hits under her belt with a voice that mesmerized the world since her career began in 1981. She has released a total of 27 albums and won an astounding 240 music awards out of 481 nominations including 12 World Music Awards, 7 Billboard Awards and 20 Juno Awards. During her career she has topped the music charts with songs like 'Power of Love', 'It's All Coming Back To Me Now', and 'Because You Loved Me'.
People also had other issues with the list. Taj Jackson, the brother of the late Michael Jackson, felt the 'Thriller' singer deserved to be ranked higher than 86.
Some artists even voiced their disapproval at being snubbed including Gene Simmons, member of the hard rock group 'Kiss' (video by TMZ). Other artists also left out were Janet Jackson and Jennifer Hudson, Phil Collins and Ann Wilson.
Dion recently had to postpone her 2023 tour due to being diagnosed with Stiffman syndrome, a condition affecting the nervous system and the ability to move.
