A recession is looming around the world, if not already here, and inflation has increased everything from gas prices to groceries. There have been repeated reports of the effects of climate change: droughts in Africa, increasing Arctic temperatures, and sky rocketing carbon emissions. New York residents have even offered to decrease usage of air conditioners in an effort to reduce their carbon footprint.
Should celebrities still fly private amid increased inflation and climate change? Some people don't think so.
Drake was recently criticized for using his private jet to take multiple 15-minute flights to Hamilton as reported by Twitter page Celebrity Jets:
They even broke down the negative effect it had on the environment.
Some sided with the artist and felt he shouldn't be singled out for the issues related to climate change while others felt his financial status shouldn't exclude him from doing his part to save the environment.
After Instagram page @RealTorontoNewz reported Drake's Hamilton flights, the 'Falling Back' artist defended himself in the comments, clarifying that the plane was just being moved:
Kylie Jenner also received backlash for a similar post. Last week Kylie posted a picture of her and boyfriend Travis Scott at an airport on Instagram. They're embracing between two private jets (one for Kylie and one for Travis) with the caption "you wanna take mine or yours ?"
While some applauded the couple, others criticized them for flying private when climate change while others are continuing efforts to curb the effects of climate change.
Others didn't appreciate them flaunting their lives of luxury given the current economic state.
