A Wednesday night show held at First Avenue & 7th Street Entry, headlining Dave Chappelle, was temporarily halted hours before showtime after receiving an overwhelming amount of public outcry. Protestors not only included the general public but staff and performers as well.

The Minneapolis music and entertainment venue issued an apology on Facebook ensuring that they "...believe in diverse voices and the freedom of artistic expression, but in honoring that, we lost sight of the impact this would have." The show was moved to the Varsity Theatre where tickets would be transferred.

Chappelle has discussed the LGBTQ community at length in his comedy shows including the Netflix special 'The Closer' released last year. This special landed the comedian two Emmy nominations despite the backlash received from both the public and Netflix employees. In February, 2022 Netflix announced that Dave Chappelle would be releasing four new comedy specials on its platform and featuring other comedians such as Earthquake and Donnell Rawlings.
