Demi has decided to add she/her to her preferred pronouns of they/them. In an interview with Tamara Dhia on the Spout Podcast she discussed her sexuality:

"I'm such a fluid person when it comes to my gender, my sexuality, my music...I felt like especially last year my energy was balanced, and my masculine and feminine energy so that when I was faced with the choice of walking into a bathroom and it said women and men I didn't feel like there was a bathroom for me because I didn't feel necessarily like a woman and I didn't feel like a man, I just felt like a human. And that's what they/them is about for me. It's just about like feeling human at your core. Recently I've been feeling more feminine so I've adopted she/her again." She also updated her Instagram account to reflect the change.

Demi Lovato has always been open about their sexuality which they described as fluid. In May 2021 she announced that she was non-binary and pansexual and changed her pronouns to they/them. Inclusion reporter Mary Emily O'Hara came to Demi's defense, supporting their decision and explaining why they would make the change:

Rapper Lil Uzi Vert also added they/them to their pronouns in July and updated their Instagram page.

The former Disney star recently released a new single (Substance) off her upcoming album 'Holy Fvck', to be released August 19, 2022. The singer will be returning to her rock roots with this latest project and seems to be closing the door on pop music: "I don't know where things are going to take me but I do know that what the future holds for me is not my pop music" (Spout Podcast). They have accumulated almost 200 awards throughout their career including two Grammy awards for pop duo/group performance (2019) and pop vocal album (2017).
