FOUR CHILDREN SAVED IN COLOMBIA AFTER PLANE CRASH KILLS MOTHER

June 14, 2023

Four children were saved after becoming stranded in a forest from a plane crash.

The Colombian children, aged 13, 9, 4 and 11 months, miraculously spent 40 days surviving in an Amazon rainforest before they were rescued.

It has been reported that the children were travelling to San Jose del Guaviare with their mother. The Cessna plane crashed on May 1, due to engine failure, killing the pilot and another adult. The mother survived for only 4 days before succumbing to her injuries. Before her death she instructed the children to leave the crash site in order to increase their safety and survival. The children travelled three miles from the site crash before they were found.

The oldest sibling, Lesly Jacobombaire Mucutuy, described how the children, being raised in an Amazonian village, survived this long including eating fruit found in the jungle and plane and hiding from snakes and other dangers.

The father of two of the children, Manuel Ranoque, reported to The New York Times that the decision was made to relocate the children amid fears of them being recruited by a violent armed group where they lived in Araracuara.

The children are currently recovering at a military hospital in Bogota, Colombia.
