Singer and Actress Dame Olivia Newton-John died on August 8, 2022 at age 73. Her husband, John Easterling, made the announcement Monday morning on all social media platforms. Newton-John died from breast cancer at age 73. She "passed away peacefully at her Ranch in Southern California" where she was "surrounded by family and friends." Olivia had battled the disease for 30 years, her diagnosis first announced in 2017.
She got her breakout role as 'Sandy' alongside Johnny Travolta in the 1978 film 'Grease', an adaptation of the musical written by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. The pair reunited five years later to star in the 1983 film "Two of a Kind." She appeared in over 15 films and played Bitsy Mae Harling in the television show "Sordid Lives: The Series."
Her singing career was equally impressive. Over four decades, she released a whopping 26 studio albums and sold an estimated 100 million records worldwide. Many of her songs topped the charts including her hit single, and Song of the Decade, "Physical" that spent 10 weeks at #1 on the Billboard 100. She's earned countless music awards and received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Travolta posted a tribute to his co-star and friend.
Olivia is survived by her husband and daughter, Chloe Rose Lattanzi.
